December 2013 Holiday Program (Ages 6 -10)
What to do during the holidays? If you have a young one at home who is energetic, loves stories and has a great imagination, come join us as we introduce them to the magical world of theatre. The holiday program is broken down into 3 separate workshops, each spanning 4 hours and conducted over 2 days. Each workshop focuses on 1 aspect (puppet theatre, props-making, costumes). You can chose to come for all 3 workshops or just take 1 that your child enjoys the most. At the end of each workshop, they get to bring home with them their creation. Be prepared to hear them talk about how much fun they had the whole day!
Workshop 1 (Puppet Theatre) - AGES 6 TO 10 YEARS
Using puppets, participants are encouraged to exercise their creativity through creating characters and the conversations between them. Through interactive play, participants learn to also work together to create a wonderful puppet theatre showcase. At the end of the workshop, they will be well-equipped with a set of characters to put up a play at home! Enjoy!
*Please note that this workshop happens on the
- 2 Dec (Mon) 230pm to 430pm
- 4 Dec (Wed) 230pm to 430pm
Due to technical difficulties, the dates are reflected as 2 Dec and 3 Dec when you purchase the tickets.
Workshop 2 (Props Making) - AGES 6 TO 10 YEARS
Is your young one especially interested in "creating" things? Let him/her come exercise their creative juices and improvisation skills with us. Be amazed by your child's creativity. We will be using everyday items which can be found around the house and creating them into props which will be used in class as part of the performance. Maybe one day, your socks will become Mrs Teddy and old toilet rolls into Mr Dragon! Don't be too surprised then!
Workshop 2 takes place over the below 2 days;
- 17 Dec (Tues) 10am - 12noon
- 18 Dec (Wed) 10am - 12noon
Workshop 3 (Costumes Galore!) - AGES 6 TO 10 YEARS
Your little girl/boy always wanted to be a diver, a teacher, a princess, a warrior? Now's the chance. Using accessories, masks, headwear, clothes, your little one gets to dress up and be whoever they want! You might be suprised at their creation. At the end of the workshop, every participant goes home with a polariod picture of them in character!
- 17 Dec (Tues) 230pm to 430pm
- 18 Dec (Wed) 230pm to 430pm
Drama Workshop (Ages 6 onwards)
Each lesson covers aspects of VOICE, BODY and SPEECH focusing on a particular theme. Children age 4 to 6 (developmental years) imitate people around them by recreating scenes from everyday life and acting out familiar roles. From this, imaginative play develops as they develop the ability to incorporate narrative into their play. As they grow, their ability to imagine exerts greater influence on the nature of their play.
Children age 7 onwards start to be more aware of their own feelings and reactions towards certain situations. They also start to develop opinions. Dramatic play allows them to further develop their creative thinking and foster a habit of constructive questioning and broad-based thinking through interaction with their peers and discussions of scenario based role-play.
The imaginary world children create enables them to realize in their imagination the things that cannot be realized in reality. Fantasy play contributes to children’s creativity and imagination and should be encouraged. Ever wondered what Humpty Dumpty said to the King’s soldiers and Kingsmen? Or how about what the twinkling stars above think about us? Join us to find out.
